Where the money goes

Two critical issues in dealing with child poverty are food security and early childhood education. CA has donated funds to two non-profits that excel in dealing with these issues:

$300 to the Maryland Food Bank. http://www.mdfoodbank.org
In addition to turning every dollar into 6-9 meals for hungry families, the Maryland Food bank has innovative programs like the Backpack program, which feeds children over the weekend when they are away from school nutrition programs.

$300 to Horton's Kids. http://www.hortonskids.org
Horton's Kids provides tutoring, mentoring, and family support for
children in some of DC's lowest-performing schools. At the end of this past school year, Horton's Kids' older children had narrowed their reading deficit from 2.13 grades behind to .88 grades behind while the younger children were, on average, one grade ahead in their reading ability.

This money was raised just a few dollars at a time, with your help. THANK YOU!
